Les Écoles normales nationales d'apprentissage ont, de 1945 à 1991, assuré la formation des professeurs de l'enseignement professionnel (disciplines d'enseignement général ou technique). S'inscrivant dans le sillage des réformes conçues à la Libération, elles ont donné un modèle de formation à la fois héritier des écoles d'instituteurs d'avant guerre et novateur. Elles ont concouru à l'émergence d'un professorat spécifique qui n'est pas sans annoncer celui que les textes officiels entendent promouvoir de nos jours. Elles ont néanmoins pâti de l'image dévalorisée du «technique» dans l'opinion publique.


From 1945 to 1991, the Ecoles Normales Nationales d'Apprentisage (National teacher training schools), provided the training of teachers (of academic and technical subjects) for vocational schools. In the wake of the post-war reforms, these schools devised a training model both inherited from the traditional pre-war primary school teacher training colleges and innovative. They have contributed to' the emergence of a specific teaching profession which certainly announced the teaching now promoted by official recommendations. Nevertheless they have suffered on account of the run down image of vocational teaching in public opinion.
