Since 2009, the annual World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) in Doha, Qatar, brings together the world’s most influential experts, decision makers and practitioners to find bold ways of improving education, exploring groundbreaking new trends and tackling the critical challenges of the 21st century through concrete action. The strength of WISE is its broad multi-sectoral base for collaboration, fostering innovation and sharing sustainable and replicable best practices.
On Day 1 of the Summit, the major focus is on how innovation and change happen in different sectors, and whether and how these models may inspire new strategies for education, as well as intersectoral collaboration for development.
Discussions on Day 2 sharpen the focus on innovation in the education sector. Participants explores models for whole-system reform of education, as well as individual "break-the-mold" projects that may inspire broader reforms.
On Day 3, the discussion turns to the future, inviting new visions and new thinking about how education and lifelong learning systems may better meets the needs of changing societies, and better prepare learners for the unknown future.
Throughout the Summit, 1,200 decision makers, practitioners and thought leaders from different sectors share and debate ideas, discussing new ways to address major challenges, and ways to promote purposeful action.
Each of the Plenary Sessions will explore key issues related to the overall theme of the Summit, “Changing Societies, Changing Education”, and will frame the major issues to be explored in the WISE Debates and Focus Sessions that follow. The plenaries are designed in the spirit of a TV debate. Each will involve three to five panelists and will be moderated by a journalist.
